What: OC Playa Field Day

When: May 16th, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Floyd County Friends Unity Center

Doors will open at 9am at the Floyd County Friends Unity Center (990 FM 786, Lockney, TX 79241).

At 9:40am, an overview of playa ecosystems and the Texas Playa Conservation Initiative will be given by Heather Johnson, Migratory Game Bird Specialist: Region I, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, Littlefield, TX.  Next, Chad Wall, founder of Natural Ecosystem Restoration, Ropesville, TX, will present, “Taking Steps to Regenerate Cotton Ecosystems.”

After a break, the final presentation entitled, “A Grower’s Perspective: Cotton Incorporated, SARA, and Preserving Playas” by Lacy Cotter Vardeman, Cotter Key Farms, Slaton, TX.

At 11:30am, the group will have a catered sandwich lunch (made from scratch by Sweet Treats by Ann-Marie, Amarillo, TX) before departing for a Field Trip to visit a restored playa located about 15 miles from the Floyd County Friends Unity Center
