Mission Highlights

Promotion

PCG interacts with international cotton buyers through programs of Cotton Council International, Cotton Incorporated, and the National Cotton Council. We are involved in numerous educational and promotional events on behalf of Texas High Plains cotton. Our goal is to ensure that all segments understand the importance of cotton to the economy overall and everyone’s quality of life.

Exposure

PCG hosts seminars throughout the year to increase international and domestic awareness of cotton production and products.

Education

PCG participates in educational outreach for elementary students four to five times per year to educate them on cotton’s benefits.

Domestic Promotion

This year, PCG attended multiple education outreach events to teach elementary students about cotton production as well as the benefits to purchasing cotton clothing. Hundreds of fourth graders in Perryton, Dalhart and Lubbock, Texas learned the dangers of wearing plastic.

Each presentation was ended the same way, “When you’re going back-to-school or Christmas shopping, remind your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins to check the clothing label for cotton. This year we’re going to purchase cotton items when we shop!”

International Promotion

In market development for the 2024 fiscal year, PCG funded Cotton Council International $50,000. This financial support helps secure USDA matching funds that CCI uses as the export promotion arm of the National Cotton Council.

PCG collaborates with CCI in assisting in the organization and execution of special trade missions and orientation tours. This year, PCG and other local organizations hosted trade mill executives from Turkey. There were executives from 18 Turkey textile mills present, which collectively represent 2.5 million bales of cotton consumption — including over 1 million bales of U.S. cotton.
