"Cotton Day at the Capitol"

Plains Cotton Growers, Inc., will send a delegation to attend "Cotton Day at the Capitol" on Wednesday, April 10. This event is held in Austin each legislative session and is an opportunity to educate state leaders about the impact of the cotton industry in Texas.
The day's activities will include visits to legislative offices to provide them with cotton gifts and tell them about the industry and its pressing issues. Participants will be able to visit one-on-one with elected officials and members of their staff.
The group from PCG will join representatives from various segments of the cotton industry all over the state, including several cotton producers.
"Events like these help ensure that we maintain communication with our state leaders and members of their staff, and it is critical that they know just how important cotton is to the entire state and to our economy," PCG Executive Vice President Steve Verett said.

Farm Policy Facts is a diverse coalition of agricultural organizations formed to raise awareness about the positive role that agriculture plays in our economic recovery, the huge return investments taxpayers see from farm policy and the disproportionate funding cuts that agriculture has already shouldered.

The National Cotton Ginners Association is urging its ginner members to participate in a survey aimed at identifying the ginning industry's most significant issues. The deadline for completing the survey's "Research Needs" questionnaire, which has five questions, has been extended to April 15. The questionnaire is at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RJ5SXHH.
NCGA Executive Vice President Harrison Ashley said the survey initiative is "an effort to better serve the ginning industry and utilize limited fiscal and human resources available to identify and address the needs of the cotton ginning industry and individual gins. Survey results will be used by research institutions such as the USDA-ARS gin labs to help prioritize research efforts and focus resources on the issues of greatest concern to the ginning industry."
